People often ask how PMYA winners are chosen. The short answer is that the process blends the voice of the public with the judgement of independent experts, and it is supervised at every stage. Here is how it works from nomination to the awards night.
The six stages
1. Screening and verification
The Secretariat checks each nomination for completeness, authenticity and compliance with the rules, including the eligibility window and the evidence provided.
2. Shortlisting
The Technical Committee evaluates nominations using PMYA’s judging criteria and prepares the shortlist for each award.
3. Public voting
Shortlisted nominees appear on the official PMYA voting platform. Public voting is completely free. Voting this year opens on 15 November 2026 and closes on 27 December 2026.
4. Winners announcement
Winners are notified confidentially and officially unveiled at the PMYA Awards and Gala night on Sunday, 10 January 2027.
Why we keep it simple
A single, transparent voting round is easy for everyone to understand and take part in. Every shortlisted nominee gets the same fair shot: one vote per email address, and the highest number of votes in each award wins.
How we keep voting fair
- Each email address can vote once per award
- Repeated and automated voting attempts are blocked
- Vote counts stay hidden until winners are announced, so nobody is influenced by a running tally
- Our team reviews results for unusual patterns before anything is confirmed
The Transparency Guarantee
PMYA operates with fairness and accountability. Every stage of the judging process is supervised by the Advisory Board, which ensures impartiality and merit-based selection in line with global best practice.
What you can do
Encourage people you know to vote for the nominees they truly believe in once voting opens. Share their stories, invite supporters to take part and keep your campaign honest. When the results are announced, celebrate everyone who made the shortlist.
The Standard is not only about who wins. It is about a process that the people of Plateau can trust.
